John D. Pfingsten

1953-2025

John David Pfingsten, 72 of New Milford, twin brother of Nancy  Metzger of Newtown, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

In addition to his twin sister Nancy and her husband Dr. Jeffrey Metzger, he is survived by two nieces, Alison Decker and her husband Andrew and their children Jackson and Payton and Dana Metzger and her husband Jimmy Brunette and their children Jimmy Jr. and Jimiyah. 

John grew up in Simsbury, CT, the son of the late John A. and Amy (Ricks) Pfingsten.  He was a proud member of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Department. Serving in the Navy was John’s highest honor. 

We are especially grateful to Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center for their excellent care. Also a special thank you to VA Liason Rebecca Cordero, RN. Her unwavering support and advocacy was immeasurable. 

Private funeral services and burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. There will be no calling hours.
