John Paterson Obituary

John Nash Paterson, 82, of Redding, longtime resident of Ridgefield, died on Sunday, April 28, 2024. He was the loving husband of Carol (Lawson) Paterson. John was born on January 31, 1942 in Canton, Ohio; a son of the late Peter and Marguerite (Rood) Paterson. John attended and graduated from The Ohio State University. During college he was Council of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and became a life-long fan of Ohio State sports. Carol and John married in June of 1965. They lived in several different states before settling in Connecticut and retiring in Bonita Springs, FL for 9 years.

John retired as Regional Vice President for B.I. Worldwide. During his lifetime he enjoyed golfing, tennis, skiing, boating and travel. But most important to him, was his family and camaraderie of friends and business associates in the various places he lived.

John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol as well as his daughter, Cortney Uritz and her husband, Louis, and 2 granddaughters, Chloe and Sydney.

A Memorial Service in Celebration of John’s Life will take place on Saturday, June 15th at 11:00 AM at First Congregational Church,103 Main Street, Ridgefield, where he has been a long time member. Following the service, all are invited to join the Paterson Family in Lund Hall for a reception. Internment will take place privately; there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Kane Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
