John J. Jacocks 1948 - 2023 John J. Jacocks, 75, of Danbury, husband of Kathleen Kennedy Jacocks, died on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at St. John Paul II Center for Health Care, Danbury.
John was born in Bronxville, NY, on January 13, 1948, the only son of John R. and Doreen (Eadie) Jacocks. He was raised in Carmel, NY, attended Carmel schools, and graduated from Carmel High School. He received his B.S. from BEI and his M.S. from Fairfield University. He served in the Naval Reserve for 6 years.
A retired electrical engineer, John was employed by Norden Systems and then Northrop-Grumman. He was an adjunct professor at Fairfield University.
An area resident for the past fifty-five years, he loved classical music. An accomplished musician, he played saxophone, flute, clarinet, guitar, piano, and keyboard. He enjoyed playing Bridge during his lunch hours. He loved to read - history, fiction, poetry, and science fiction. He also loved maps, “Dr. Who” and bonsai trees. He was a devoted fan of War Games - board game simulations of historical battles. He also volunteered in a Sea Scout Troop in Bridgeport on the ship, Mary Rose. He loved to sail and the sea. Most of all he loved his family. He never missed a soccer game or dance recital and spent hours playing with his granddaughter. He was a member of St. Peter Church of Danbury.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, of forty-nine years, he is survived by two daughters, Anne J. Gartland and her husband Keith and Catherine J. Nanavaty and her husband Adam, two grandchildren Julia and Collin Gartland, his sister Janice Tito, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacocks was predeceased by two sisters, Joanne Lipari and Jacqueline Jacocks, and by his stepdaughter, Mary Catherine Kennedy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury.
The interment will be private.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 2 PM to 5 PM.
