John J. Glowney, 84, of Danbury, husband of Marilyn (Wixon) Glowney, died on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Glowney was born in Brewster, NY a son to Leo and Ellen (Enzian) Glowney. He attended Brewster, NY schools.
A carpenter by trade, he then was employed by the W.F. Tomlinson Co.of Danbury and later in his retirement drove a school bus for the Danbury school system.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served from November 13, 1963 to November 12, 1965 attaining the rank of Private First Class.
He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church of Danbury.
In addition to his wife of fifty-two years, he is survived by 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Glowney was predeceased by two brothers, Leo Glowney and Robert Glowney and by two sisters, Mary Hollis and Nancy Medeiros.
Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 4PM to 7PM. Burial will take place in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury at the direction of the family.
