John Diones, 92, of Wilton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 7, 2021. He was the loving husband of the late Nina Diones.
John was born in New York, NY on March 13, 1929, to the late George and Rose (Ouellette) Dionessiou. John graduated from vocational High School, and eventually found his way into warehousing at a large catalog retailer. He enjoyed similar positions at other companies before retiring as an inventory control executive at JC Penney. In 1950 he met Nina, the love of his life, to whom he was married for nearly 65 years, in a Bronx pizza shop. They raised 4 children, and were later blessed with 6 grandchildren.
A resident of Wilton for the past 25 years, his favorite activities were spending time with his grandchildren, watching his beloved Yankees, doing outdoor chores and eating anything chocolate. John was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church of Georgetown, where he was a cantor for many years.
John is survived by his 4 children: Bruce Diones of Manhattan; George Diones and his wife, Ruth, of Ardsley, NY; John Diones and his wife, Deborah of White Plains, NY; and Renee Cahill and her husband, Ed, of Wilton, CT. In addition, John is survived by 6 grandchildren: Alyssa, Jeffrey, Jackie, Anya, Christina and Jonathan.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church; 30 Church Street, Georgetown (Redding). Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield.
