Joan M. Thorburn, 78, of Danbury, was taken home to the Lord on Sunday, April 13th, 2025.
The only child of William and Margaret Murray, she was born on August 6th, 1946. She grew up in the Bronx, and then met her husband of 57 years, John Thorburn. After moving to Connecticut to start her family and her career, Joan spent close to 60 years as a nurse for both Danbury Hospital and Regional Hospice.
In addition to her husband, John, Joan leaves behind her children: Linda Thorburn, John (Denise Carreau) Thorburn, Mark (Jennifer) Thorburn and Suzanne (Alan) Wilder. Joan is also survived by her grandchildren, Marissa, Mary, Lake, Riley, Grant, Raegan, Silas and her great grandchildren, Kaylee, Skylar, Mark, Hunter, Sophia and Blakeleigh.
Joan will be grieved by many, many friends and others whose lives she touched in her life and career.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church; 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Entombment will follow in Saint Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
