Joan W. Sacowitz
Joan W. Sacowitz, 80, of Hilton Head Island, SC, wife of Anthony J. Sacowitz, died on Friday, January 16, 2026 at her home.
Mrs. Sacowitz was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on September 19, 1945, a daughter of J. Ernest and Eleanor (MacKechnie) Wilhelm and raised in Danbury.
She attended local schools and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1964. Employed with Barnes & Noble, Mrs. Sacowitz was an administrative assistant to the Regional Director of Stores North East.
She was a member of St. Anthony Maronite Church of Danbuy. A resident of Hilton Head Island for the past ten years, she wasa volunteer with The Church Mouse, a local non-profit thrift
shop.
In addition to her husband Anthony, Mrs. Sacowitz is survived by a sister in law, Vera DePoto and her husband Joseph, three nephews, Dominick C. Volpe III and his wife Joan, Joseph
DePoto and Anthony DePoto and his wife Katie and three grandnieces Rachel Saucier and her husband Daniel, Cora DePoto and Lucy DePoto.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sacowitz was predeceased by a sister,Carol Preusser and her husband David and by a sister in law, Joanne Volpe and her husband Dominick Jr.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 10 AM in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury.
Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received at St. Anthony Maronite Church on Friday,January 30, 2026, from 4PM to 7PM.
