Joan Margaret (Baker) Rieger, 89, of Ridgefield, CT died peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026. She was the loving wife of the late Clement J. Rieger.
Mrs. Rieger was born in Newburgh, NY on July 25, 1936; a daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (Bowman) Baker. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary's Academy and the School of Business Practice in New York City.
A longtime resident of Ridgefield, CT, Mrs. Rieger was a retired Executive Secretary from the Bank of New York. She also spent a significant period of time working at IBM where she met her husband. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, New York Times crossword puzzles, and the beaches of South Florida. She travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia and was a parishioner of Saint Mary’s Church. She also loved movies, reading and all animals. She is remembered as person of great empathy who would always put her loved ones first.
Mrs. Rieger is survived by her 4 children: Allison Rieger, Robert Rieger, Michael Rieger, Karen Rieger and her husband, Scott Amoye She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Madison, Jackson and Mackenzie Rieger and Christian and Sarah Amoye. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Mrs. Rieger was predeceased by her brothers; Robert and Earl Baker.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, CT. Entombment will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield, CT. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Joseph's Indian School.
