Jean-Nicolas "Nick" Konczarek Obituary

Jean-Nicolas François Konczarek, “Nick,” tragically passed away on Friday, March 14th, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family. Nick was the beloved husband of 17 years and best friend to Deanna Elizabeth Lovasik, and the loving father to Danika, John Henri, and Buddy, his little dog.

He is also survived by his parents, Edward Konczarek and Louise (née du Ruisseau); his brother, Charles; his sister, Victoria Konczarek, and her husband, Adam, and their son, Leo, Nick’s godson. Additionally, Nick is survived by his paternal grandmother, Clare Konczarek (late grandfather Jan), and his father-in-law, John Lovasik (late mother-in-law Susan Micak), and his wife, Mireille. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Laura Lovasik, her husband, Edward Portet, and their sons, James and William, as well as many adoring aunts and uncles, cousins, teammates, friends, lifelong friends, and business associates.

Nick was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on January 26, 1981. He grew up in his favorite city, Montreal, and later moved for business with Deanna to Burlington, Ontario, where their beautiful children, Danika and Henri, were born. No matter where Nicolas resided, he forged strong and lasting friendships. He was a shining light, always showing respect, appreciation, and kindness to those around him.

Nine years ago, Nick and his family decided to embark on an adventure and move to Ridgefield, Connecticut, where Nick accepted a new job offer. Nick was a loyal employee of Danone Waters of America, most recently holding the title of Senior National Director of National Accounts. Throughout his career, Nick was a true team player always bringing energy and joy wherever he went.

Nick’s love for life was infectious. He had an incredible ability to light up any room and was always ready for a night full of fun—especially if it involved good music, which had always been an integral part of his life. His love for music was something he shared with his family, adding a special connection between them.

Nick had a wide range of interests and hobbies. He was a passionate fan of the Montreal Canadiens and played hockey locally for the O’Brien Sports Pub Hockey Team. His love for sports extended beyond hockey; he was an avid golfer, enjoyed hiking, indoor cycling, walks with his dog and skiing. Nick always looked forward to a good night of dancing and karaoke. He also loved trips to Las Vegas, adding to his fun-loving spirit.

Nick was deeply involved in his community and his children's lives. He dedicated many years to coaching hockey for the Western Connecticut Junior Colonials, where he passed on his love and knowledge of the game to many children, especially his own. Above all, he was always Danika and Henri’s biggest fan, taking the time to cheer them on in their various activities—whether it was their hockey games, Danika’s baseball games and cross-country meets, or Henri’s lacrosse and flag football games. He also supported their musical concerts, showing his unwavering dedication to his children’s passions.

From an early age, Nick strived for excellence, a mindset that helped him achieve success in his schooling, career, and home life. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, always taking pride in his work without seeking recognition in return. Nick knew how to work hard and play hard and was never afraid to try something new. He was hands-on, taking on many house projects and organizing both social and work events. He always found a way to achieve whatever came his way, always figuring out the best solution.

Nick had a passion for cooking delicious food and loved hosting gatherings for his loved ones. His warm personality, the sparkle in his magical blue eyes, and his contagious laugh made everyone feel welcome. He was known for his sincerity, which made him an unforgettable presence.

Above all, Nick was a dedicated father, providing his children not only with the best of everything but also his time, knowledge, love of music, and, of course, his ridiculous daddy jokes. As a devoted son and brother, Nick cherished his family and always placed family values above all else. As a husband, Nick loved with his whole heart, making his wife, Deanna, feel like the luckiest and most loved woman in the world since their first kiss in 1998. His love for her was unwavering, and their bond was truly special.

The adventure of a lifetime was always made better with Nick by your side. He was a man of the community, a loving hockey coach, a friend to all, and always ready to bring fun and laughter to any situation. His presence could light up any room, and his smile and laughter will be deeply missed. In Nick’s last selfless act on Earth, he donated his organs to help others live on. May the dancing, singing and love that filled his life live on in those who have met him, even if it was for just a brief moment in time.

Our dear Nicolas, you are forever loved and will be missed more than words can express. We love you so much.
