Jean-Marie Barra Bangert

Jean-Marie Barra Bangert, 79 (but always 22 at heart), of Ridgefield, passed away at her home peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, June 4, 2024, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. An incredible, kind and passionate spirit, she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Bangert was born on March 1, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY; daughter of the late Ralph and Marie (Hansen) Barra and youngest sister to the late Ralph Jr. and her treasured older sister Marilyn. She graduated from Brooklyn College and went on to a successful career as an Executive Assistant in Manhattan, prior to dedicating her life and focusing full time on being a devoted, dutiful Wife and devout, doting Mother. She enjoyed spending her summers as a child and young adult visiting her beloved cousins in Little Compton, RI and subsequent family vacations to the Cayman Islands or sailing in the Long Island Sound.

A 50-year resident of Ridgefield, CT, Mrs. Bangert through the years could often be seen walking her dog daily along Nod Road, serving her famous chili at the Little League concession stand or being one of very few females leading her son’s Cub Scout troop.

She was an avid collector of antiques, dedicated documentarian & photographer, lover of sunsets on the beach and faithful Catholic who for decades religiously attended services at Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown, CT.

Mrs. Bangert is survived by her husband, Charles; her cherished son Christian Bangert, his wife Tobey and their three sons Braden, Cameron and Briggs, as well as her beloved stepdaughter Shannon Wagnon, her husband Ronnie and their three children Logan, Emily and Avery. 

Funeral services will take place privately. A special thanks to the combined efforts of Honey Bee Home Care and the RVNA/Hospice teams for their tireless efforts in assisting in her care and comfort. Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield is in care of arrangements.
