Jayne C. Showah, 69, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2021. Jayne was born in Queens, NY, on January 11, 1952, a daughter of the late Robert and Joan (Powers) Gould.
Jayne was a dedicated mother, artist, animal lover, and friend to many. Jayne had a vibrant personality, and could fill any room with laughter. She opened her home to many homeless cats over the years and donated to local animal shelters. Jayne found her passion for drawing at a young age. In 1968, her work was featured in the “Palette of the Zodiac” Art Exhibition. Her home lit up with her colorful drawings of flowers, birds, and cats. Some pieces were occasionally on display at Art and Frame of Danbury.
A local resident for many years, she graduated from Brookfield High School, Class of 1970, received an undergraduate degree from Western Connecticut State University, and was a member of St. George Orthodox Church of Danbury.
She is survived by her son Samuel Showah and his wife Samantha Kepke, step-daughters Karen Samperi and Suzanne Walker, three sisters Betty Sassetti, Sue Boughton, and Nanci Gould, and former husband Michael Showah.
Services will take place privately at the Brookfield Congregational Church Memorial Garden in Spring 2022.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jayne's favorite cat rescue - DAWS (Danbury Animal Welfare Society) 147 Grassy Plain Street; Bethel, CT 06801, https://daws.org/donate/
