Jay E. Saltzman, of Newburgh, New York passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021, following a prolonged illness. He was 74 years old.
Jay was born and raised in Brighton Beach, (Brooklyn) New York where he attended Lincoln High School. Jay subsequently lived in Kew Gardens, New York until 1994 and then in Newburgh, New York for the past 26 years. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Esther, children Mark, Steven and Cheryl, daughter-in-law Melani, son-in-law Yari and grandchildren Jenna, Marissa, Brian, Evan and Eliana.
Jay served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and had a forty-year career at Columbia University in computer programing.
Jay had a great passion for the ‘Doo-Wop’ music of the 1950’s and was a huge Brooklyn Dodgers & New York Yankees fan. He loved watching old Western movies and classics like The Three Stooges and Abbott & Costello. As a devoted husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather he will be missed dearly.
Funeral services were held privately.
