Jay Pinchbeck, 82, of Roxbury, former resident of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. He was the loving husband of Dale (Gregg) Pinchbeck.
Jay was born on November 8, 1938 in Ridgefield, a son of the late Joseph Green and Effie (Washburn) Pinchbeck.
Jay served in the US Army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He later attended and graduated from Cornell University as well as the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. Jay had worked as a Floral Designer with his family at Pinchbeck Greenhouse and he also loved art, nature and travel and was an accomplished artist. A 23-year resident of Roxbury, Jay previously resided in Ridgefield, CT, Brooklyn, CT and Parkman, Maine. Jay was a member of the Roxbury Congregational Church and was a member of the church advisory board. He also mentored children for confirmation and taught Sunday school.
Jay is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dale, and their two children: Laurie Whitsel and her husband, Brad, and Christopher Pinchbeck and his wife, Lindsay. Jay is also survived by four grandchildren; Amy and Christian Whitsel and Cameron and Elsie Pinchbeck; a sister, Sylvia Sturges, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Jay was predeceased by his brother, Joseph and twin brother, John Pinchbeck.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Jay’s life will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Roxbury Congregational Church – 24 Church Street, Roxbury. Interment will take place privately, there will be no calling hours. Contributions in Jay’s memory may be made to Roxbury Congregational Church, http://www.roxburychurch.org, or charity of your choosing in Jay's name.
