James Patrick Denneen, 52, of Ridgefield, CT died at his home on January 26, 2025. He was born February 9, 1972 to John P. and Mary Veronica Denneen, in Huntington, NY.
Jim graduated from St. Louis Country Day School in 1990 and Fordham University in 1994. At both schools he participated with distinction in journalism and athletics, most notably swimming and water polo. At the college level he was a 200-m freestyle swimmer on Fordham’s conference-champion swim team and a captain of their men’s water polo program. At the USA Water Polo Olympic Trials, he was one of the few athletes not from California. He was a lifelong enthusiastic supporter of Fordham athletics and the New York Yankees.
He married on June 24, 2000, and raised his son and daughter in St. Louis, MO and Wilton, CT.
Jim earned his MBA from St. Louis University and worked in finance for Citigroup in St. Louis and New York offices, and more recently for Patriot Bank in Stamford, CT.
During his adult life, Jim was active in Catholic parish life and business/social relationships. He was an amateur chef of great skill and dedication, a sometimes triathlon competitor, and he loved to research and share the history of his ever-expanding family tree. He celebrated with pride and good humor the accomplishments of his children, nieces, and nephews, and will be remembered for the joy - and the food - that he brought to family gatherings and vacations.
Jim is survived by his children, Elizabeth and Patrick Denneen, of Park Ridge, IL; his father, John P. Denneen of St. Louis; his brothers John Denneen (wife Shin), Tom Denneen (wife Erin), Bob Denneen, and Dan Denneen, his sister Mary Beth Denneen Ugalde (husband Steven), his nieces and nephews Jack, Carley, Christopher, Abby, Emma, Joel, and Aidan. He is predeceased by and forever united with his mother and several beloved aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery; Hawthorne, NY.
Kane Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
