JACQUELINE HELMAR JOWDY (100)
(March 25, 1925 - November 12, 2025)
Jacqueline H. Jowdy, widow of James J. Jowdy, Sr.of Danbury, passed away peacefully at her home in the presence of her loving family.
The eldest of three children of Henry and Bessie Helmar, Jackie attended Danbury Schools, and obtained her nursing degree from Norwalk Hospital during World War II, a calling which she honored throughout her entire life as both a professional and family healer. As a young nurse, Jackie's independent spirit and drive took her initially to Miami before returning to Danbury to marry her childhood sweetheart, Jimmy.
Together their full and adventurous lives took them to Sao Paulo,Brazil. As a young bride and mother she raised her family between Connecticut and Brazil.
A woman of immense Christian faith, she was often looked to as a guiding light to those searching for peace and fellowship. She will be remembered as a loving partner to her husband of 67 years, a caring and positive role model for her children, an attentive and doting “Sitto” and reliable friend and confidant to many. With faith and family being the center of her life, at every family gathering, she would inevitably say ‘thank you for coming to live with us!”
Jackie is survived by her children, Joyce Curran ( Emil) James J. Jowdy, Jr. ( Marie), John Jowdy, (Cheri) Jayne Bachyrycz ( Donald), Janet Hudak, (Robert) and Jeffrey Jowdy; 11 grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to Danbury Regional Hospice and to Dr. Frederick Kayal for their excellent care and compassion.
Special thanks are given to daughters, Janet, Jayne and Joyce who selflessly gave of their time, talents and efforts to allow Mom to remain in the loving environment of her own home until her passing.
