Irene Eleanor Fusek, 93, of Danbury, died on February 5, 2023, at Danbury Hospital. She was born in Danbury on July 15, 1929, and was a sister to eleven siblings.
As a lifelong resident of Danbury, she attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1947. Following graduation, she was hired by Bard Parker where she was employed for forty years.
Irene was deeply devoted to her Lutheran faith which she supported in every manner possible. She served as a Sunday school teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury for forty years. During her stay at the Lutheran Home of Southbury, she found spiritual strength from her weekly visits from Pastor Leo McIlrath who served as Interim Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury.
Irene is survived by her sister, Alice Jurenka (Peter), brothers Emil J. Fusek (Jacqueline J.) and Paul Fusek (Mary Sue), and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her siblings John Fusek II (Christine), Stephen Fusek (Betty), Edward Fusek Sr. (Jean), and five sisters, Anna Fusek, Betty Duda (Francis), Mildred Fusek, Christine Garvey (James), and Ruth Locke.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury, with Pastor Leo McIlrath officiating.
Interment will follow in Lutheran Cemetery, Danbury.
Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Tuesday morning from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.
