Our beloved Father, Harold Shaw, 86, of Danbury, Connecticut, passed away on January 5, 2021, in Mountain View Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada. Harold was born in Sioux City, Iowa on October 5, 1934. He was raised by a loving mother, Nazrie Helton along with his sister, Lucille Hunter. As a teenager and as an adult, our Father enjoyed sports and excelled in both baseball and basketball. He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City Iowa on January 22, 1953. After high school, Harold joined the United States Air Force where he was assigned to the 31st Air Division. Naturally, of course, our father was also a basketball “STAR” for the 31st Air Division. While serving in the Air Force, Harold met and married a fellow Airmen and settled in Danbury, Connecticut. From this union, they had three children, Kathy, Carla, and Todd. Our Father’s work ethic was beyond reproach, as he often worked two jobs at a time.
He was employed as a Machinist/Supervisor for various Danbury Companies, including, Kimberly Clark, Viking Wire, and Barden’s. He also worked part-time for over twenty (20) years as a Bus Driver for Danbury School District, a job that he absolutely enjoyed. He equally enjoyed fishing on the various lakes around Danbury. Harold was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
In 2018, Harold relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada to reside with his daughter, Kathy. Harold is survived by his three children, Kathy Shaw-Woody (Michael Woody) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Harold Todd Shaw (Princess Shaw) of Hawthorne, California and Judge Carla McMichael of Mableton, Georgia.
