Retired Stamford attorney, Geoffrey (Geoff) Brandner of Danbury, CT, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at age 76, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was a resident at Village Crest Center for Health & Rehabilitation in New Milford when he died. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 29 years, Sara Kelman, L.C.S.W., sister Renee Brandner, children Stacey and Ariel Brandner, his mother Francine Brandner, sister-in-law Sue Kelman and brother-in-law Dr. Jonathan Kelman. Geoff was predeceased by his father, Dr. Philip Brandner. The biggest love of Geoffrey’s life was his dog, Comet, who also predeceased him.
Geoff was born in Hartford. He attended Vanderbilt University, University of Bridgeport and Law School at University of Connecticut.
Attorney Brandner maintained a general legal practice in Stamford for over 37 years. He favored litigation, loving a good argument or the discovery of a quirk in the law. Geoff’s clients loved him; his colleagues, both attorneys and judges, deeply respected him.
In his younger days Geoff was an avid spelunker and hiker, setting off on adventures with his long-time friends Richard Hylton and Robert Verastro. He even once persuaded his sister Renee to go into a cave when they were teens. Later in life he had two hobbies: stamp collecting and the study of major wars, (the Civil War, WW1 and WWII). Geoffrey never dabbled in anything. He pursued his hobbies intensely.
