Frank P. Molinaro, 84, of Bridgewater, died peacefully in the arms of his family on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. He was the loving husband of Holly Jane (Finley) Molinaro.
Frank was born on September 11, 1940 in Danbury, CT; a son of the late Frank and Lucille (Tomaino) Molinaro. Frank graduated from Danbury High School and later attended Danbury State Teachers College, the University of Bridgeport and The Hartford School of Insurance. Following a period of military service he joined his father in the Molinaro Insurance Agency of which he later became Co-President.
Frank loved his family, his friends and his community, which he served selflessly for his entire adult life. His affable personality, quick wit and helping hand were his superpowers. His friendships spanned decades, interests and political affiliations.
Frank was a past member of the Danbury Jaycees and the Elks Club, and a longtime member and past President of the Danbury Lions Club. Frank was designated as a Lions Low Vision Center Knight, and Ambassador of Sight from the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation. Most notably, he was named as a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Clubs International Foundation in 2024.
In addition to his service with the Danbury Jaycees and Danbury Lions Club, Frank was a past Secretary to the Board of Directors of Nutmeg Federal Savings and Loan Association and a Corporator of the Savings Bank of Danbury. He previously served with distinction as the Assistant Registrar of Voters for the City of Danbury and later served as the Moderator of Elections in Bridgewater, for which he was recently recognized by the State of Connecticut. Most recently, his service to his community was recognized by his selection as Grand Marshall of the Danbury San Gennaro Italian Festival. Frank was a member of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, Danbury.
Frank was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and New York Football Giants and was a season ticket holder for the Giants for many years. His organization of bus trips and tailgate parties at Giants games are the stuff of legend and was even officially recognized by the Giants.
Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Holly, as well as his daughter, Moira Molinaro DaMota (Glen). Frank is also survived by his grandchildren, Glen and Emily DaMota; his sister, Linda A. Molinaro, and his brother, Peter A. Molinaro and his wife, Peggy as well as his nieces Meredith Mason, and Daria, Katie and Virginia Molinaro.
In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sons, Mark and Matthew.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at 10:30 AM in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church; 17 Granville Avenue, Danbury. Interment will take place in Saint Peter Cemetery, Danbury in the Spring.
