Frank Walter Kaminski

Frank Walter Kaminski, 80, of Danbury, CT passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen (Hellerich) Kaminski.

Mr. Kaminski was born on March 11, 1944 in Bridgeport, CT. He moved to Danbury, CT at the age of 5 following the death of his parents, where he was raised by his aunt, Marian Mann. Mr. Kaminski was a faithful member of St. Peter Church, a parish in which he received his sacraments, married his true love and raised his family. He attended St Peter School for his early education, followed by Danbury High School (1962) and Fordham University (1966). Mr. Kaminski was a Social Work Supervisor for the State of Connecticut, Department of Children and Families and retired after a 33-year career.  

Mr. Kaminski was a smart, selfless man with a quick and unmatched wit. He lived a life of integrity, humility and love, guiding his family and others by example.  Mr. Kaminski enjoyed reading and road trips, but his greatest pleasure and richest reward was the time he spent with his family.  

He is survived by & will be dearly missed by:  his loving wife of 59 years, Kathleen (Hellerich) Kaminski, their three daughters: Lisa DiCandido and her husband Thomas, Diane Knapp and her husband Karl, Susan Kaminski and her partner Peter Siecienski; his grandchildren: Matthew DiCandido and his wife Alaina, Jennifer DiCandido (Brendan Ezra), Nicholas DiCandido (Mia Green); his niece Karen (Pliska) Currier and her husband Al; his sister Marion Best; his sisters-in-law: Roslyn Leone and her husband Lee, Dawn Gallagher and her partner Frank Hirt and Peg Eldson; numerous nieces and nephews and the neighborhood he enjoyed for almost 70 years creating friends that have become family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kaminski was predeceased by his aunt, Marian Mann and her husbands Logan Evans and Carl Mann; his beloved sister Francis Pliska; his in-laws Raymond and Kathleen Hellerich; and his special angel, granddaughter Victoria DiCandido.

Calling hours for family and friends will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 10:30 AM in Saint Peter Church; 121 Main Street, Danbury. Interment will follow in Saint Peter Cemetery; 71 Lake Avenue Extension, Danbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Kaminski’s memory may be made to St. Peter Church in Danbury, CT or any charity of their choice.
