Florence Antigone (Ziallas) Marble

Florence Antigone Marble, age 93, of Danbury, CT, passed away on January 16, 2026 at Regional Hospice of Danbury. 

She was born to the late Lazaros and Hariklia (Economou) Ziallas. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Warren E. Marble and her sister, Violeta Hannegan.

Affectionately known as “Gunny,” Florence was a true Danburian born and raised.   She loved to reminisce about her childhood days growing up in Danbury where she made many life-long friends.  

Florence was a graduate of Danbury High School and Becker College in Worcester, MA.   She began her career at Danbury Hospital, where she worked as a medical secretary.   During her time at the hospital, she met her husband, Warren.  After taking time off to raise their three children, she returned to work in the hospital's Physical Medicine and Rehab department until her retirement. 

She was a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and Ladies Philoptochos Society and found joy in celebrating and sharing Greek and Macedonian traditions. 

Florence is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Rockwell Maxwell of Newtown, Louise Marble (Lisa Antel) of Bridgewater, and Carol Arconti (Robert) of Danbury.  Additionally, she leaves behind her granddaughters, Robin Rockwell of Newtown, Julie Arconti Benoit (Joseph) of Southbury, and Rachel Rockwell Martin (Brendan) of Woodstock, Ontario, CN and her adored great-grandson Rowan Alexander.   She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Susan Glen (John) Oregon, along with their children, Rebecca and John Jr.  

Funeral services will be held privately.
