July 17, 1953 - May 6, 2025
Eugene Francis Jackson, Jr., age 71, was born on July 17, 1953, son of the late Eugene F. Jackson, Sr. and the late Ruth (Crumpton, Jackson) Harris.
Most of Eugene's education was in the Danbury Public School System, in Danbury, CT. His high school graduation was in 1973, from San Marcos High School in Texas. He went on to earn a Certificate in Radio and Television from Job Corp.
Eugene went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1981 to 1987. His US Army Basic Training was in St. Louis, MO at Fort Leonard Wood. From there, he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX and then with the US Army Unit 103 in West Haven, CT. From the US Army Academy of Health Sciences, Eugene was presented with a diploma as a “Basic Medical Specialist”. In 1987, Eugene, received “Honorable Discharge” from the Armed Forces of the United States of America, US Army.
Eugene’s many years of employment included working at Western CT State University in 1974, Dandy Foods in 1975 and after earning his CDL License in 1981, Eugene worked for Southern Freightways beginning in 1988, as a long distance, 18 wheeler-semi, transporter. Prior to his retirement, Eugene worked as a transport driver in the Tri-State area for A & L Russo, of Danbury, CT.
The profession as a long distance transporter was not just a job for Eugene but also provided an opportunity for him to travel in his semi, all over the United States, from the East Coast to West Coast and from the Northern States to the Southern States. His transport routes also took him to Mexico and Canada.
Eugene would share about his CDL travels and experiencing the “Handiwork” of God in the amazing and often indescribable beauty of bright sunrises and glowing sunsets, of giant forests and swaying palm trees, of rolling over cloud covered mountains and being engulfed in lowly green valleys. He talked about the “Hands of God” guiding him and his load through torrential rainstorms and snowy ice covered roads.
Eugene's residence has always been Danbury, CT where he was born and raised. It was here that Eugene cherished memories of neighborhood friends that he grew up with and kept in touch in-person and through social media.
Soon after becoming a member of Trinity Christian Tabernacle in Danbury, CT, Eugene Jackson answered the call to become a Deacon. Deacon Jackson was a faithful Member of Trinity, served on the TCT Deacon Board, the TCT Usher Board, the TCT Trustee Board and was a member of the Trinity Men’s Choir and Past-Director of Trinity Mass Choir.
