Ernest J. Borter, 83, of Danbury, husband of Sarah (Hawkes) Borter, died on Thursday evening, January 11, 2024 at his home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Danbury followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 12 noon at the Joseph A. Treadwell Post 60, American Legion, 138 Triangle St., Danbury
Interment will be private
There will be no calling hours

Ernest J. Borter, 83, of Danbury, husband of Sarah (Critelli) Borter, died on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at his home.
Mr. Borter was born in Flushing, Queens, New York on January 23, 1940 to Ernest A. and Mary (Stojan) Borter. He attended NY schools and was a U.S. Naval Vietnam veteran serving in the Seabees.
An area resident for the past forty-five years coming from NY state, Mr. Borter was a self-employed sheetrock taper.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and enjoyed the Catskill and Lake George regions of New York.
He was a member of the Joseph A. Treadwell Post 60, American Legion of Danbury and of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Danbury
.In addition to his wife Sarah of thirty-three years and a courtship of ten years prior, he is survived by two sons, Edward and Brian and by a step-son George Hawkes and step-daughter Pamela Hawkes. He is also survived by a sister Maryann Phillips and by seven grandchildren
In addition to his parents, Mr. Borter was predeceased by a brother Paul and sister Delores.
