Elsie (Fossi) Craig, 94, of Ridgefield, wife of the late Norman D. Craig, died on Thursday evening, July 15, 2021, at Danbury Hospital.
Mrs. Craig was born in Danbury on November 27, 1926, a daughter of the late Domenic and Ida (Montanari) Fossi. Raised in Ridgefield, she attended Ridgefield schools and graduated from Ridgefield High School.
A lifelong Ridgefield resident, Mrs. Craig was active in the Ridgefield community. She was a member of the Ridgefield Historical Society, Keeler Tavern, Ridgefield Chapter of Regional Hospice & Palliative Care of Western CT, and a volunteer patient driver. She was a member of the “Early Bird Group” and a volunteer at the town’s political headquarters. A member of St. Mary Church, she was a daily communicant, a member of the Altar Guild and Rosary Society.
Mrs. Craig is survived by her three children, Karin Craig Petrini (Bob), William “Billy” Craig (Susan) and Lori Corsak (David), a sister, Norma Fossi Contessa, a brother Thomas Fossi, eight grandchildren, Jennifer Pink (Kevin), Ross MacKenzie Craig (CJ), Kimberly Craig McCarthy (Chris), Thomas Petrini (Emily), Dr. Nicholas Petrini (Julia), Michael Petrini, Matthew Petrini (Amy) and Kaitlyn Corsak, Ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Craig was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Fossi, Louis Fossi, and John Fossi, and by a sister, Dorothy Marconi.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield. The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Monday, July 19, 2021, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
