Elizabeth ("Betty") Morgan

Elizabeth “Betty” Morgan, 80 of New Fairfield; wife of the late Martin J Morgan Sr.; died on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at her home. Betty was surrounded by her family including her children, grandchildren, brother, and sister. Betty courageously battled cancer with the strength and courage of a Gladiator. Her journey demanded so much physical and emotional stamina. Her faith in the Lord and the support of her family and friends allowed her to carry on. The family would like to thank the nurses, PAs, and doctors of Mount Sinai in NYC, and the entire team at RVNA in CT.

Betty is survived by her children including Elizabeth Gillotti (Michael) of Danbury CT, Kevin Morgan (Kimberly) of New Fairfield CT, Maureen Viola (Bobby) of Tampa FL, and Marty Morgan (Nancy) of New Fairfield CT.  She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Bridget Rice and brothers Michael and Tommy Rice. She is also survived by her brother Edward Rice of Pawleys Island SC, Steve Rice of Yorktown NY, and her sister Mary Creamer of Margate FL, and Somers NY. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, Michael, Brendan, Eren, Hannah, Yvonne, Morgan, CJ, Bridget, Johnny, Margaret, Kate, and Brady. She will surely be missed by all of her cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends of New Fairfield and Margate FL, and beyond.

Betty was born in the Bronx NY (South Bronx, USA) and was extremely proud of her roots and her Bronx history. She and Marty moved to New Fairfield full time in the mid-1970s after having spent many summers in Putnam Lake NY. Retired from Diversified Investment Corp/Aegon in Purchase NY, she was active in the Westchester community working with corporations in developing senior programs and helping the underserved. She was the Director of Corporate Community Relations. She also had a long career in Radiation Oncology at Danbury Hospital. In the early 2000’s she and Marty began spending winters in Margate FL with many of their lifelong friends, also known by the family as the ‘Irish Riviera’.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 10:30 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield. The family will gather with friends and relatives afterward. There will be a celebration of the life of Betty’s honor in late spring at the home of Kevin and Kim in New Fairfield. Interment will be private. There will be no calling hours.
