Elizabeth "Betty" Dodson

Elizabeth "Betty" Dodson, 84, of Danbury, wife of the late Kenneth G. Dodson Sr., died on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Mrs. Dodson was born in Nassau, N.P., Bahamas on March 26, 1940, a daughter of Michael D. and Olivia (Rolle) McDonald. She attended schools in the Bahamas and came to the United States in 1955. She graduated from Danbury High School.

A seventy-year area resident, Mrs. Dodson retired from the Barden Corporation and was a member of Saint Gregory the Great Church where she was a former Boy Scout Den Mother and volunteer for various service and fund-raising events.

She enjoyed cooking and most especially the time she spent with her family and friends and was often recognized for her generosity.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Dodson and his wife Darlene and Kenneth Dodson Jr., two daughters, Donna Greer and her husband Allen, and Louise Morey, three sisters, Estelle Mackey, Rachel Dodson, and Edna Newbold, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Dodson was predeceased by a grandson Ashanti McDonald, a brother Michael McDonald, three sisters, Janet Moncur, Anis Bowe, and Diane Bradshaw and a son in law, Billy I. Morey.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 10:30 AM in Saint Gregory the Great Church; 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel.
