Elaine Marie Gillotte, 77, wife of Lawrence “Larry” Gillotte, died on Monday morning, January 23, 2023, at Danbury Hospital. Mrs. Gillotte was born in Danbury, December 10, 1945, a daughter of the late John J. and Anne (Heleotis) Macchiaverna.
Raised in Danbury, Elaine was educated at St. Joseph Parochial School, Danbury High School, Western Connecticut State University and earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Fairfield University. She served in the Danbury School system for thirty-seven years.
Elaine was a source of constant light and love. Her selfless dedication to her husband, children and cherished grandchildren was natural and noticed. She loved to read, spoil her cats and enjoyed long walks with friends. Through her generous spirit, she was involved in several community organizations including Ann’s Place and Woman’s Club of Danbury. She kept happily busy in many activities at the Candlewood Lake Club.
In addition to her husband, Larry of fifty-four years, she is survived by two daughters, Lauren Gillotte and Carly Miller and her husband John David Miller, grandchildren Amanda Rose, Ryan Zane, Luca Mac, and Avary Anne. Elaine is also survived by her sisters Johnis Macchiaverna and June Macchiaverna. Her legacy of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends is extensive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, from 4 PM to 7 PM.
