Edwin "Ed” Lockwood, 64, of Danbury, CT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Danbury Hospital, with his wife and family by his side. Ed was a lifelong Danburian, born on February 24, 1961, to the late William Lyman and Caroline Van Houten Lockwood. He graduated from Danbury High School, and started working at Danbury Hospital upon graduation. Ed continued to work at the hospital for a remarkable 45 years, up until his passing. He started off working as a security guard, and worked his way up to become a Systems Analyst in the Information Technology department. It was at Danbury Hospital where he met the love of his life and his best friend, his wife Katherine “Katie” (Daly).
Ed was incredibly active in the Danbury community his entire life, from being Santa Clause at the hospital during the Christmas season, to volunteering with the Girl Scouts while his daughters were involved in scouting, and most recently was the president of the Booster Club for the Danbury Hat Tricks (formerly Titans) and Off-Ice Official for the Federal Prospectors Hockey League (FPHL). He was also a Deacon and Choir member at Sacred Heart Church in Danbury for a number of years.
Ed is survived by his wife of 39 years, Katie, his daughters Kimberly (Michael) Schaniel of Southbury, CT, Heather Lockwood of Danbury, CT, and April Bergh of Danbury CT; his granddaughter Alexis Schaniel of Southbury, CT; his “best buddy”, his Rottie, Dak; and 3 angel grandbabies. He was an integral part in the upbringing of his nieces Judy and Jennifer, and nephew William III. He was a cherished uncle to numerous other nieces and nephews, as well as a beloved brother-in-law, nephew, and cousin. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister.
The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 2 PM to 5 PM.
