Edward Walczykowski Obituary

Edward B. Walczykowski, 102, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2022. He was the loving husband of the late Helen (Kujawski) Walczykowski for 63 years. He was a resident of Ridgefield for the past 30 years.

Edward was born in New York, NY on May 20, 1919; son of the late Stanislaw and Aniela (Swiercz) Walczykowski. He was raised in the Bronx and graduated from NYU with a degree in Finance.

He was a proud Army Air Force veteran having served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service in Korea. He later enlisted in the US Air Force Reserves.

Edward was employed as a Tax Import Specialist for the United States Customs Agency until his retirement in 1979. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, especially in his garden, and was an avid walker and hiker. A jack of all trades, he could fix any problem in the house. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a twinkle in his eye. He was an animal lover and accepted all the strays that were brought home by his children. He was a very loving and generous man who truly exemplified the greatest generation.

As the “Patriarch” to his family which meant everything to him, Edward is survived by his three devoted children: Edward, whose loving care enabled him to live at home until the end; Jane and her partner, Stark Biddle, and Mary and her partner, Steve Pica. He is also survived by his niece, Camille Salka, who was like a daughter to him. He was also the loving “Uncle Eddie“ to Violet Lazzaro, John Salka, Joan Devlin, Robert Ledek and Ronald Ledek as well as his nieces and nephews by marriage: the Bozek’s, Kujawski’s and Polchinski’s. He was predeceased by his parents and five sisters: Salomea, Regina, Eugenia, Rose Mary and Helen. He will be greatly missed by his family.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Pazer, Dr. Ronald Raymond and Dr. Vincent Repucci for their expert care and compassion that enabled him to live a long and happy life.
