Edward Henry Bendlin, 86, of Danbury, died on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was the loving husband of Elaine (Rehberger) Bendlin.
Mr. Bendlin was born on December 5, 1937 in Mount Vernon, NY to Estelle (Eckwerth) and Edward J. Bendlin.
After graduating from Edison High School in 1955, he worked for Con Edison for over 40 years. His last position was as a Manager of Energy Services. He married Elaine Rehberger in 1958.
While living in Mount Vernon, he was an active member of the United Lutheran Church, formerly St. Paul’s as Treasurer for many years.
After leaving Mount Vernon upon retirement, they settled in Southbury, CT where they resided for 25 years in Heritage Village. While there, he volunteered on many committees and was Condo President. He was also very active in the Westchester Con Ed Retirees where he served as President for 20 years.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Elsie Archaski, daughter in law, Marie-Elena Bendlin, and grandson EJ Bendlin.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons – Edward W., Dave (Lisa) and Richard (Gina); 7 grandchildren – April, David (Marilyn), Dan (Carly), Karli, Justin, Amanda Mae and Julia as well as many cousins and extended family members.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home; 9 Granville Avenue, Danbury. A prayer service will be offered on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, Danbury. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
