Doreen M. Ackell, 75, of New Milford, CT, formerly of Danbury, wife of the late Albert F. Ackell, died on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Doreen was born in New London, CT, March 13, 1946, a daughter of the late Reginald and Eleanor (Faulkner) Morgan. She attended Waterford, CT, schools and relocated to the Danbury area in 1972. A stay-at-home mom until her younger daughter reached school age, she became the administrative assistant with the former Albert F. Ackell Woodworking Company and later a self-taught controller for several auto dealerships.
Doreen was an accomplished seamstress and artist. For many years, until the passing of her husband, Albert, Doreen was a member of the Germantown Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies auxiliary and attended St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church of Danbury, where she was an active member of the parish community. She most recently attended the Sherman Congregational Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Victoria Luis of Sherman, CT, Brenda DeWitt of Danbury, and Marilyn Ackell Kasper of Cummings, GA; two sons, Kenneth Ackell of Brookfield and Douglas Ackell of Danbury; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Doreen was predeceased by a daughter, Jerri Lindahl; a son, Edward Ackell; a brother, Avery Morgan of Essex, CT; and two sisters, Phyllis Rogers and Regina Busca, both of Waterford, CT.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church, 5 Clapboard Ridge Rd., Danbury, with the Rev. Kimberly A. Bosley officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury, at the direction of the family.
