Dora M. (Butera) Ehrhard, 99, of Danbury, longtime resident of Brookfield, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 14, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Richard A. Ehrhard.
Dora was born on February 3, 1925, in Danbury, CT; a daughter of the late Louis and Theresa (Tomanio) Butera. Dora attended Danbury
Schools and graduated from Danbury High School. She worked at Davis and Geck until she married her lifelong sole mate, Dick, after he returned from World War II. Dick and Dora built a life and family in Brookfield. They were happily married for 73 years until Dick passed away.
A longtime resident of Brookfield and later Lake Worth, FL; Dora enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She especially enjoyed playing Rummikub with her family. She was an avid reader and she loved to talk politics. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family, especially her grandsons.
Dora is survived by her daughter, Michelle Volpe and her husband, Charles “Chick” Volpe, Jr.; as well as her grandsons, Charles Volpe III and his wife, Kate and Michael Volpe and his wife, Erika. Dora is also survived by her sister, Diana Barchi and her brother, Aldo Butera and many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her sisters Louise Ciccone and Norma Condito and her brother Carmine Butera. Dora also leaves behind her loyal and faithful companion, our dog Penny.
The family would like to thank her hospice nurse Sarah and the staff Megan and Jenn for giving Dora such loving care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church; 46 Stone Street; Danbury. Entombment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury. There will be no calling hours.
