Donald Vallerie Sr. Obituary

On December 28, 2020, Donald Eugene Vallerie Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at the end of a long and blessed life surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Ann (Hutchinson) Vallerie.

Born August 12th, 1935 in Norwalk, CT, Donald was the 3rd son of Ida (Lockwood) and John E. Vallerie Sr. of Rowayton, CT.

Donald will be remembered with much love. In the early 1960’s Donald fell in love and then married the love of his life, Ann Hutchinson. He is survived by Ann, his wife of 58 years, and their children: Donald E. Vallerie Jr., Paul E. Vallerie and his wife, Carmen, Sarah Vallerie, Clarissa Burrows and her husband, Paul and Jennifer Kravec and her husband, Vincent. In addition,

Donald is survived by 5 grandchildren: Jessica Vallerie, Cassandra and Kyle Burrows and George and Julianne Kravec, several nieces and nephews as well as a sister, Linda Iseley.

Educated at Fairfield College Preparatory School in Fairfield, CT and Salem State College in West Virginia, he went on to earn a Business Degree and worked all of his professional life for the family business as co-owner and President of Vallerie Transportation Service Inc. in Norwalk, CT. Community minded, Donald served in the United States Army before college. Later, he went on to serve as a member of the Rotary Club of Ridgefield and Chairperson of the Connecticut Motor Transport Association.

Master yodeler, lover of a good party, devoted fan of everything John Deere and overall good guy, Donald leaves behind a legacy filled with good stories, funny jokes and entertaining family dinners. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all of his family.

While a resident of Ridgefield, CT for more than 50 years, Donald felt most at home on Jobs Creek at Lake Sunapee, NH. A life-long boater, Donald enjoyed the sun, air and peace of being out on the water. Twilight on the lake, surrounded by the people he loved, was his favorite time of day. Rest in peace Dad. You were a loving husband, beautiful father and grandfather, good friend and neighbor. Your family will forever be grateful for the gift of having you to share our lives with for so long.
