Diana Samuelson, age 89, of Redding, CT, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 7, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Derrick Samuelson for 62 years; loving Mom to David Samuelson and Deri (Pete) Columbia and Grandmother of four, including Jenna and Peter Columbia.
Diana grew up in Litchfield, CT with her parents, Doris and Irving Webster and younger brother, Peter.
After attending the local high school Diana went on to Vassar College. It was one summer during college when she met Derrick. They were married two years later. They moved to Brooklyn Heights where Diana was a first grade teacher. A few years later they moved to Smoke Rise, NJ where they raised their family. Diana was a devoted stay at home Mom and took part in many clubs and activities in the community. She loved to entertain friends and always made holiday celebrations special for her family. She was an avid Red Sox fan and purple lover! You could find purple throughout her home and especially in her wardrobe. Diana loved gardening, tennis, playing bridge, singing in the church choir and traveling. She had the opportunity to accompany Derrick on his many work trips which literally took them around the world. She loved learning about different cultures (especially the Far East) and collecting art from the many countries they visited.
Diana spent her retirement years in San Diego, CA, and Tampa, FL and finally in Redding, CT. During these years there were many trips back and forth visiting her children and grandchildren and spending time with friends.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Irving and Doris Perkins Webster; her brother, Peter Webster; and her husband, Derrick Samuelson.
A Memorial service to honor Diana is being planned for the Spring. Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield is in care of arrangements.
