Debra Deakin Obituary

Debra M. Deakin, 44, of Berlin, CT, formerly of Danbury, died on April 23, 2021. She was born in Danbury, July 29, 1976, a daughter of David Deakin Jr. of Bethlehem, and Linda (Clarkson) Deakin of Danbury. Debra attended St. Gregory the Great School and graduated from Bethel High School, Class of 1994.

She had worked in the Danbury area and at the time of her passing, was a limousine company reservationist and trip coordinator.

In addition to her parents, Debra is survived by her son, David Torres of Bethlehem, her stepmother Nancy Deakin of Bethlehem, two sisters, Robin Monks and her husband Keith of Stratford, CT, and Traci Fabrizio and her husband Edward of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, two nephews, Thomas and James Fabrizio and niece Lucy Fabrizio.

Debbie lost her battle with addictions in April. She had been fighting this disease for more than half her adult life. She sought treatment for these addictions many times though never fully able to overcome them. When she was winning this battle, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mostly, she loved being a mother to her son David. Her face would light up when she talked about him or spent any part of the day with him. He was her greatest joy.

Debbie was an avid reader who always joined her local library in every town she resided in. She loved a good television series and enjoyed correcting her sisters when they sang the wrong lyrics to 80’s songs. She will be remembered for the kindness she showed towards all underdogs and for her inclusive nature. She had a big heart and wanted everyone to feel loved. She had a quick wit and an even quicker smile. This is how Debra’s family will choose to remember her.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lakes Road Cemetery, Bethlehem, CT. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the David Torres Educational Fund, C/O Thomaston Savings Bank, 73 Main St. South, Bethlehem, CT 06751 would be greatly appreciated.
