It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dawn-Renee Grocz, of New Mexico- a cherished sister, cousin, niece, friend, Godmother and educator who left this world far too soon at the age of 48.
Her loss leaves a void that can never be filled but her legacy of wisdom, warmth and unwavering connection to others will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a shining example of selflessness, intelligence, passion and humility who faced life's challenges with unwavering hope. Dawn’s strength was nothing short of remarkable. She faced adversity with courage and resilience.
As a sister to Paul Grocz she was a pillar of strength and love- always there to offer support, guidance and unconditional affection. Her role as Godmother to Olivia brought her immense joy and pride and her role as niece and cousin offered so much love and unconditional happiness to us all.
In a world often defined by superficiality, Dawn was an example of authenticity. She believed in quality friendships and relationships placing great value in her inner circle. Dawn’s passion for teaching was evident in every classroom she graced. Her loyalty and unwavering support were a testament to the depth of her character. In the classroom, she was more than just a teacher; she was an inspiration. Her intelligence and passion for education were evident in every lesson. She left an indelible mark on her students, teaching advanced mathematics and upper-level calculus, most recently at the Academy for Technology and the Classics in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her dedication to her craft and her ability to inspire the love of math and learning was felt by all her students in her 25+ years of teaching.
She is predeceased by her father, Jeno Grocz, her mother Eva Grocz, and her beloved grandmother Eva Copeland. Dawn is survived by her loving brother Paul Grocz of New Mexico, Aunt Kathy (Tony) Sgroi, cousins Nicole (Brian) Zusi, Jennifer Sgroi, Christopher Sgroi and “minis” Alessandra Zusi, Jack Zusi and her goddaughter Olivia Zusi in New York; Relatives Joszi Soos, Gabor Soos, Denes Grocz, Zsofi Soos of Hungary and Laczko Huszar of Czech Republic and lastly, her Yorkie doggy Mario.
Though she left us far too soon we find solace in the belief that she has now found Eternal peace that she so deserved. Dawn-Renee, you'll be deeply missed but your spirit lives on in the hearts of all who are touched by your love, wisdom and strength.
Rest in Heavenly peace, Dawnikam.
