Davina Carr Obituary

Davina Phyllis Carr, 72, of Ridgefield, passed away on January 30, 2026 in the arms of her husband of fifty-one years, Kenneth.

Born in Huntington Long Island on Christmas Eve 1953 to Davina Mellevold and Raymond Smith, she was raised in Northport Long Island and Forest Hills Gardens New York, moving to Ridgefield from NYC in 1989. She was a graduate of New York University where she was a proud recipient of the Founders Day Award. She worked as an Oncology Nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and, later, Greenwich Hospital. She was an avid gardener, a lover of Maine Coon cats, classical music (enthralled by the violin playing of Jascha Heifetz but also a devotee of Bob Dylan), world history and the works of Thomas Wolfe and P.G. Wodehouse. She was known for her kindness and irreverent wit. Most especially, she was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Nora. She loved family summers in North Truro, MA and in recent years enjoyed the rich course offerings at Ridgefield’s Founders Hall.

She was predeceased by her two sisters, Ramona Smith and Genevieve Soper, and survived by husband, Kenneth Carr, and daughter, Nora Carr of Ridgefield CT, and her beloved sister-in-law Diane Carr of Cranford NJ and nephews Sean Clancey of Westfield NJ and Colin Clancey of Brooklyn NY, as well as niece Davina Friese and nephew David Soper of Melbourne FL.

A private memorial will be held by the family at a future date. Davina very much wanted to be an organ donor but circumstances did not allow that. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Donate Life America. Kane Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
