David W. Neary, 84, died peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2026, after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Lorraine (O’Neil) Neary whom he married in 1967.
Mr. Neary was born in New York City on December 22, 1941; a son of the late William and Mary (Mullin) Neary. He grew up on Post Avenue in upper Manhattan attending Good Shepherd School, Rice High School, and Fordham University. He was an NYPD police officer for over 20 years and a Soldier in the New York Army National Guard. Following his time in the NYPD, he worked in personal security for Moore Capital Management for 19 years.
Mr. Neary was retired from the NYPD and a faithful member of Christ the King Church, Ridgefield. He enjoyed family activities and participating in church events as a member of the Holy Name Society. Sometime around 1999, he abandoned the New York Yankees and became a Boston Red Sox fan because, as he would say, my children have all moved to New England and I want to enjoy their company. Lorraine never forgave him for that.
Mr. Neary is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine, as well as their children: David G. Neary and his wife, Theresa; Christian M. Neary and his wife, Amy; Mary E. LeCarff and her husband, Philippe and Steven Neary. Mr. Neary is also survived by 12 grandchildren: David P. Neary as well as a great granddaughter, Cora Blaise Haines, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition, Mr. Neary is survived by his siblings, Christine Bonnell, Mary Doherty and Douglas Neary.
