David Robert Carroll “D.R.” age 66 of Ridgefield passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.
Dave was born in Bethel on March 1, 1954 to Lillian (Borges) Zandri and the late J. Robert Carroll. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Louis Zandri. He was a lifelong resident of Ridgefield where he attended St. Mary’s School and Ridgefield High School. In 1972, he started his own successful asphalt paving business, D.R. Carroll Incorporated- known today as Carroll Construction Corporation which is proudly run today by his son.
Dave was an honorary life member of the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Italian American Mutual Aid Society. He was an active supporter of the local community. Dave loved cooking and entertaining for his friends and family, spending his time off in Florida and on the water whenever he could. Dave was known for his generosity, sense of humor and strong work ethic.
He is survived by his children: Christopher Carroll and his wife Lillian of Ridgefield; and Courtney (Carroll) Goldian and her husband Todd of Virginia; as well as their mother, Barbara Carroll of North Carolina. He had two loving granddaughters whom he adored, Olivia Carroll and Claire Goldian. He is also survived by his sisters: Diane (Zandri) Fisher and husband Steve of Wilton; Kristie (Zandri) Cogdell and husband Sean of Hamden; and Katrina Carroll of Washington, D.C.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions affecting all of us at this time, there will be no funeral services. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of David R. Carroll to the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department or the Ridgefield Boys and Girls Club.
