SCHEDULE

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, March 16, 2023,  at 11 a.m. in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave., Danbury. 

Interment will follow in the United Jewish Center Cemetery, Brookfield. 

Family and Friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 5 PM to 7 PM. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the New Milford Animal Shelter, 8 Dodd Rd., New Milford, CT 06776 would be greatly appreciated.

OBITUARY

Daniel A. Katz, 85, of Danbury, husband of Ilene (Strauss) Katz, died on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center, New Milford, CT.

Dan was born in Danbury, CT on August 28, 1937, a son of the late Zark and Edna Katz.  Raised in Danbury, he attended Danbury schools and graduated from Western CT State University.

Dan was employed with Dellwood Dairy for twenty years. Upon retiring from the dairy, he and Ilene established Katz Sales Company where they traveled the country selling children’s toys and novelties at carnivals, fairs, and events.  Some might say he was the king of the road. Dan also worked at Katz Contracting, American Deck Co. with his son Morris for many years.

In addition to his wife Ilene, of sixty-five years, Mr. Katz is survived by a son, Morris Katz and his wife Sandy (Spremulli), a daughter, Iris Katz and her husband Jack Schatz, a brother Joseph “David” Katz, a sister Marion Katz Mandell, three grandchildren Marisa Katz and her partner, Jona Jenkins, Stephanie Katz, and Zachary Katz and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Katz was predeceased by his two brothers, Morris and Edward, and by a sister Ruth Baruch.

Family and friends will be received in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 5 PM to 7 PM.
