Cynthia H. Biagiotti
9/5/36-9/20/24
If there were three things Cynthia loved best, it was family, community, and a good, sweet treat. She felt that everyone deserved bonbons and a good meal. Cynthia believed giving her time to others was perhaps the truest way to live a full life, a lesson she learned through the support of many during the trials of her early years. To Cynthia, busy hands were happy hands, and she was regularly found with a craft or needle between her fingers – knitting, quilting with the Ladies of the Evening, or hooking with the Happy Hookers (and yes, she knew exactly how that all sounded). She loved getting her hands dirty with the Caudatowa Garden Club to bring beauty to the community, teaching and sharing her knowledge with her 6th grade students or making Crescia with her grandchildren.
If she wasn’t gathering the neighborhood children to decorate balsa wood ornaments, hosting a dinner party with Fabio or running a wreath making class – you might find her at The Christmas Tree Store for the third time on any given week. She visited so frequently to buy craft materials, decorations, or gifts to make those around her smile that her car knew the way there itself.
Every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, Cynthia would magically transform her home into a Christmas wonderland, festooned in red and green. Halls were decked, stockings were hung, and no inch of the house was spared a nutcracker, Santa or garland. If there was real estate for an ornament or cookie bowl, rest-assured, it would be properly utilized.
Cynthia regularly told her grandchildren that in matters of love, you must shop until the store closed. And for her the store closed early, when the love of her life tugged on her pigtails in middle school and told her he was going to take her out some day. Though Cynthia and Fabio didn’t find their way to each other until years later, once they did, they never looked back.
Her generosity to others knew no limits. To know her was to know home; to feel welcomed, loved, and held.
Those Cynthia will live on through include her two children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, the loving staff at The Glen that quickly became family, and countless friends that will forever celebrate her life.
We will miss her more than we can express, but will find comfort in endless bonbons and knowing that Fabio is waiting for her, arms open.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Saint Mary's Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. If you’d like to join the family, a Celebration of Life luncheon will be held afterwards at the First Congregational Church of Ridgefield.
