Charles Creamer Obituary

Charles E. Creamer, of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2021. Charlie was born to the late Robert and Betty (Wilson) Creamer on March 29, 1939. He grew up in Milford, CT and was an Eagle Scout.

After graduation from UConn, he married Ruth Eggen Creamer in 1961 and moved to Tonawanda, NY where he was employed by Union Carbide as a Chemist. They had three sons, Chuck (Charlotte), Rob (Randie) and Jeff (Pamela).

The family moved to Ridgefield in 1967. Charlie received many patents for his work in the chemical industry. He was active in the community, serving as Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman for forty years. Charlie received the Community Service Award in 1984 and was Rotary’s Citizen of the Year in 1997. 

After he retired from Carbide in 1993, he formed his own company which he led for several years.  Charlie enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching the stock market.  He was a member of the First Congregational Church for over 50 years and the Ridgefield Men’s Club. 

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his sons and their wives, eight grandchildren, Hannah, Tyler, Eden, Ashlyn, Haley, Gaby, Brenna, Payton, and great granddaughter, Fern. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. His parents and three brothers, Bob, John and Bill predeceased him. 

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 103 Main Street, Ridgefield at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 2, 2021. The memorial service will also be available to livestream via the Zoom link below. He will be interred in the Nigh Columbarium and Meditation Garden at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, or Regional Hospice, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06810.  

PLEASE NOTE: Guests whom have been vaccinated for COVID 19 are not required to wear a mask or other facial covering at the First Congregational Church, Ridgefield. Guests whom have not been vaccinated for COVID 19 are required to wear a mask at the church.
