Catherine E. Gibb

Catherine E. Gibb, 100, of Ridgefield, passed peacefully with family at her side on Monday, February 16, 2026 in York, Maine. She was the loving wife of the late Alexander A. Gibb.

Mrs. Gibb was born on December 23, 1925 in Yonkers, NY; a daughter of the late John and Edith (Smith) Erksine. She worked at American Western Standard in New York City from 1942 to 1950 and married her husband, Alexander Gibb in 1949.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1967, Mrs. Gibb enjoyed gardening and bird watching. She also worked as a retail sales associate at Howland Steinbach's in Danbury from 1969 until 1991. In recent years, Mrs. Gibb also spent many months residing in Wells, Maine. She made beautiful pressed flower pictures from her gardens and always had a pair of Scotties at her feet.

Mrs. Gibb is survived by her children: Karen Napolitano and her husband, Vincent; Donald Gibb and his wife, Gail; Thomas Gibb, and Allison Thompson and her husband, Guy. Mrs. Gibb is also survived by her grandchildren: Adam Napolitano and his wife, Meredith, Scott Napolitano, Alex Gibb, Sarah Gibb, Christopher Gibb and his wife, Brooke, Catie Gibb, Elizabeth Jordan and her husband, Tristan, and Molly Crothers and her husband, Tom, as well as 6 great grandchildren; Madison, Reagan, Atticus, Audrey, Garrett and Leo.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A prayer service will be offered at the conclusion of the visitation and interment will take place privately.
