Carol S. Hamilton, 88, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late John W. “Jack” Hamilton, with whom she shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on June 28, 1937, in Stamford, Connecticut, Carol was the eldest of three children of the late Samuel and Mildred (Raffaele) Sessa. She grew up in Stamford alongside her sister Arlene Giglio Bahr, who predeceased her, and her brother Paul (Marie) Sessa.
Carol graduated from Stamford High School and earned her nursing diploma from Stamford Hospital School of Nursing. Her career as a registered nurse spanned more than four decades, during which she compassionately cared for patients at Stamford Hospital and various nursing facilities in Danbury, Ridgefield, Wilton, and Stamford.
In 1959, Carol married the love of her life, Jack Hamilton. They moved to Ridgefield in 1960, where they raised their family and built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Carol remained a proud Ridgefield resident for the past 65 years and was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary’s Parish.
Carol was a gifted gardener whose green thumb brought beauty and bounty to all who knew her. From flourishing fruit trees and vibrant roses to rows of tomatoes, her garden was a source of pride and joy. She was known for her days spent canning tomatoes—a tradition admired and cherished by her family.
Her talents extended to the kitchen, where she was an exceptional cook. Carol had a knack for creating delicious meals on a whim and hosting gatherings that brought loved ones together. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she delighted in decorating her home with unique ornaments and festive cheer. Her happiest moments were spent at the dining room table, apron on, surrounded by family and friends.
Earlier in life, Carol enjoyed crafting, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. In her later years, she found joy in coloring, listening to music across genres, chatting over coffee with friends, and watching Hallmark movies.
Carol’s unwavering love and devotion to her family were the foundation of her life. She is survived by her children, John (Andi) Hamilton of Wells, Maine, Stephen (Jean) Hamilton of Ridgefield, and Heidi (John) Laber of Redding; six grandchildren—Alexander (Vanessa), Maxwell (Ashlea), Jesse (Trevor), David (Emily), Megan, and Isabelle; several great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to RVNAhealth for their compassionate care to Carol over the past several years.
