Carl Peter Heisen, 74, of South Salem, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. He was the loving husband of Maria Elena (Quintero) Heisen.
Mr. Heisen was born on July 9, 1946 in New York City; a son of the late Carl and Vera (Haas) Heisen. He graduated from Queens College in New York with Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees in Elementary Education.
A resident of South Salem since 1973, Mr. Heisen was an Elementary School Teacher at Meadow Pond Elementary School for 38 years. He is remembered among his students especially for his sense of humor and love of the Peanuts comic strip. Among his colleagues, he was a leader in the district’s Teacher’s Association. In his free time, Mr. Heisen enjoyed gardening and his antique car, a 1978 Buick LeSabre. Mr. Heisen was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church of Ridgefield, where he often served as an assistant worship leader and on the church council, taught vacation bible school, and served in other volunteer roles.
Mr. Heisen is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maria Elena, and their sons, Peter T. Heisen and his wife, Kate, and the Reverend Andrew C. Heisen and his wife, Karilyn. Mr. Heisen is also survived by his grandchildren; Joshua Timothy and Zachary Paul Heisen and Maria Kalae and Thomas Carl Heisen. He is preceded in death by his older brother, Richard Heisen.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. The Heisen family requests that attendees at the visitation wear a mask or other facial covering.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church; 6 Ivy Hill Road, Ridgefield. Masks or facial coverings and socially distanced seating are required for attendance at the funeral service.
Interment will be private.
