Obituary

Brian J. Nethercott, 62, of Ridgefield, died on Friday, April 28, 2023. Brian was the loving husband of Mary (Hilton) Nethercott and devoted father of Caroline and Molly Nethercott.

Brian was born on October 31, 1960 in Greenwich, CT; a son of the late James and Jean (Skovron) Nethercott.

Brian attended Syracuse University and was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He was most recently the Director of Origination for GainLine Capital. In his spare time, Brian was a frequent patron of the Ridgefield Library. He loved reading about historic events and visiting National Parks. He also enjoyed gardening and time spent at the beach on family vacations in the Outer Banks. Brian was a huge fan of the New York Mets, New York Giants and the Syracuse Orange. He also was a member of the Salem Golf Club. He loved playing the game and forming relationships with other players. Brian was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church of Ridgefield. Brian enjoyed his weekly walks on Main Street with Mary and Biscuit and getting him treats from all the realtors' front steps. Brian’s main focus in life was his three girls: Mary, Caroline, and Molly. Brian taught them how to ice-skate, ski, swim, and so much more. He valued yearly holiday traditions, especially cutting down the Christmas tree.

Brian was a proud supporter of his daughters’ athletic endeavors and could always be found cheering them on. Brian never missed a sporting or school event. He also shared a special bond with his golden retriever, Biscuit. Brian took Biscuit for early morning walks around the neighborhood and weekend hikes at Pine Mountain with his family.

Brian is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary and their two daughters, Caroline and Molly. Brian is also survived by his brother, Bruce and his wife, Denise, as well as his brothers and sisters in law: Jane Voight, Ann Hilton, Mike Hilton, Jim Hilton, Kathy Glassett, Bill Hilton and John Hilton. In addition, Brian is survived by many nieces, nephews, colleagues, classmates and friends.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.
