Brenda Ackell Dewitt, 69, of Danbury, died peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024. She was born on December 31, 1954 to Albert and Jeanne (Kane) Ackell of Danbury.
Brenda graduated from Danbury High School in 1972 and from Southern Connecticut State University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education.
She went on to study at the New York Botanical Garden School of Floral Design, and opened her own floral shop, "Flowers by Brenda" in Danbury which she ran for many years.
She was a longtime member of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Paul DeWitt and their son, Daniel DeWitt. She is also survived by her brothers, Douglas Ackell of Danbury, Kenneth (Susan) Ackell of Brookfield, sister Marilyn Kasper of Gainesville, GA and sister in law, Allison Ackell of Stuart, FL. In addition, Brenda is survived by her in laws, Richard DeWitt, Karen and Tom Klein, Lisa DeWitt and Ed Smith, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents, as well as her brother, Edward D. Ackell.
Services will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Regional Hospice of Danbury.
