On August 2, 2024, Barbara Jean Lloyd, a long-time resident of Danbury, Connecticut, passed away at the age of 77. Born to Barbara and Joseph Keil in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Barbara graduated from Kean University of New Jersey with a BA in Fine Arts. She worked as an art teacher, copywriter, marketing communications manager, and head of an in-house communications agency.
Barbara eventually opened her own writing and design business. She and her late husband, Keith, also opened an art gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In time, she returned to personal art and created in acrylics, photography, assemblages, ceramics, wearable art and more. Barbara received many awards for her artwork.
Barbara enjoyed engaging in many activities. She particularly liked dinner with friends, great conversation, music, dancing, antiquing, history, and British mystery novels. She went all out on her favorite holiday, Halloween, and lovingly cared for her cats. Barbara also loved interior design as reflected in the colorful way she designed her home.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Keith Andrew Lloyd and her brother John Kiel. She met her husband at the Old Straw Hat in North Plainfield, New Jersey, and they were married for 48 years when he passed away. They loved visiting new places and traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, South America, and the United States.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Hazel Lloyd of Ohio, and her sister Christine Keil of New Jersey, and many much-loved friends in her chosen family.
A Zoom memorial is being planned. In lieu of flowers, people can donate in her name to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals); or DAWS (Danbury Animal Welfare Society).
Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, Danbury is in care of arrangements.
