On Friday, May 1, 2026 Anthony Philip Konopka, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, friend, veteran, and businessman, died peacefully in Ridgefield, CT after a courageous 20 year battle with cancer.
Mr. Konopka is survived by Joan Irene (Kocot) Konopka, his loving wife of 65 years, and their children: Anthony Konopka and his wife Cheryl, Mark Konopka and his wife Ginny, Ronald Konopka and his fiancé Sue, Kevin Konopka and his wife Bonnie, and Elizabeth (Konopka) Bergmann and her husband Eric. Mr. Konopka is also survived by his grandchildren: David Konopka, Anthony Konopka and his wife Ali, Ryan Konopka and his wife Taylor, Nicholas Konopka, Kayla Konopka, Luke Konopka, Harrison Konopka and Matthew Konopka, and his great-grandson: Aiden Konopka. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Konopka) Trivigno.
Mr. Konopka was born on May 1, 1941 in Jersey City, NJ, a son of the late Andrew and Julia (Kokosinski) Konopka. As a younger man he proudly served his country, rising to the level of Commander in the US Naval Reserves. After his initial service he earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Seton Hall University and later his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University, continuing his lifelong commitment to growth, learning, and excellence.
A resident of Ridgefield for the past 3 years, Mr. Konopka was a retired chemical and manufacturing business owner, but at the center of his life was his Catholic faith and his dedication to his family. In his spare time he found pleasure in life’s simple comforts; he loved a good round of golf, swimming and boating in Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia, had a longstanding appreciation for history — especially the civil war, and, more than anything, loved to share his knowledge and wisdom.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Konopka was predeceased by his brothers, Andrew, Raymond and Edward.
Anthony will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
