Annette (Fuggi) Lawlor, 81, of Danbury, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 1, 2023, at Danbury Hospital, surrounded by her children.
Anne, as she was known to family and friends, was born in New Haven, CT, on June 28, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Domenic and Julia (Marenna) Fuggi. She attended New Haven schools and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 1963.
An area resident for the past sixty years, and coming from North Branford, Anne was a retired educator at the Prince of Peace Pre-School and was a former director at Country Kids Child Care, both of Brookfield. She also spent many years as an ophthalmology technician.
Anne was married to her former spouse Tom Lawlor for over 30 years, and together they raised a family, first in Brookfield and then in Newtown, CT. While they were divorced for many years at the time of her passing, they remained good friends and enjoyed time together at family gatherings and during the holidays.
Anne was a devoted Catholic and would attend mass every Sunday. She enjoyed summer vacations in Cape Cod with her family, bowling, ceramics, painting, and knitting, as well as being an avid reader. She loved animals and had many beloved cats and dogs over the years. Most especially, she enjoyed the time shared with her children and her grandchildren, and very recently her 2 great-grandchildren.
Anne’s smile filled everyone she met with warmth, and she exuded a level of kindness that was contagious. She was known for her silly sense of humor and endless optimism. She would go out of her way to help anyone in need and was well-loved by her family and friends.
Anne is survived by two sons, Christopher Barry and his wife Sheila of Somers, NY, and Paul Barry and his wife Abby of Brookfield CT; two daughters, Colleen Lawlor of New Fairfield and Karen Lawlor-Melillo and her husband Richard of Oakville, CT; a brother Donald Fuggi and his wife Joan of Naples, FL; eight grandchildren- Christian, Alex, Sean, Dan, Jackie, Brian, Sammy, and Benny, and two great-grandchildren- Mila and Lucas, as well as her ex-husband, Tom Lawlor of Newtown CT.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lawlor was predeceased by a brother Anthony Fuggi.
The family will receive friends at the Jowdy Kane Funeral Home, 9 Granville Ave. Danbury, CT on Thursday, February 9th from 6 pm to 7:45 pm with funeral services taking place immediately after with Fr. David Riley officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, CT on Friday, February 10th at a time to be announced.
